I wonder what Jesus would do~feed the poor or question their motives?
Blessings, My Friend!Loraluhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09428559311387283317noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5416556583423635558.post-44149553773584887002017-05-26T10:44:20.306-05:002017-05-26T10:44:20.306-05:00So many points to comment on here, in this excelle...So many points to comment on here, in this excellent post. Thanx Lulu.

Here in the UK it is illegal to knock on doors asking for money (begging). Although, many registered charities do so. That is - you as an individual cannot beg; but a charity can send its (paid) staff to knock on your door instead.

As a result we have plenty of people sitting in street corners and at locations such as car parks begging.

We also have some people calling on our house who, first show an identity badge, (I never bothered to check it), then they try to sell you petty things like plastic combs, pegs to hang your washing, towels to dry your plates and cutlery, etc ... at enourmous prices which you would need a mortgage to buy them. They are obviously begging under the giuse of selling. Presumably, the agency who sent them get a cut of the sales. I normally buy mothing but give a donation instead. Since no sale was made the man keeps the money to himself.

It is sad that as the fourth riches country in the world we have so much poverty. We are told not to give to people who beg in the streets because they use the money on drinks. I really don't know if it's true or just a generalisation. Sometimes, depending on my mood at the time, I give the beggar such a large sum that you can actually see him almost fainting. One said to me once: "Are you sure?"

God bless you, Lulu, and thanx for your generosity. Victor S E Moubarakhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04280638667651857296noreply@blogger.com
