The little man has become quite trying at times as he enters the twilight days of his twos--and nears the worse than two-three's. Love this little man---but he is trying me--pushing my buttons with all his gusto. I give him instructions and he might blow a raspberry my way and LAUGH as he runs off. It is all a game to him---and his brothers have taught him loads of tricks. His mom would have had swift justice issued if she had dared sass me in her childhood--but you do know they will put you in jail if you spank your own child in public these days! Somehow things have gotten out of hand--with him--and with civil authority! He is not listening or hearing me--much less obeying at this point!
When we fall in love---we desire to know ALL about our loved one--spend every moment possible with them--study and learn their habits--talk with them--whisper sweet nothings in their ears---memorize every detail of their being--know them as well as we know ourselves and perhaps better! Our thoughts surround them---and we seek to deepen our relationship by spending hours listening to them. We show our thanks for that love by seeking them out. As the love grows and matures, our greatest desire is to be with them as much as possible. With time we know what the other is thinking-can finish their sentence-know all their deep secrets--and we are two who have become one.
Our thankfulness to God can be acknowledged in this same fashion. By reading, learning, acknowledging, knowing, and obeying His Word---we proclaim our high regard for Who He is---and our love is displayed when pursuing Him. As we learn who He is and acknowledge our need for Him, we will spend more and more time pursuing this God whom we love. As this love grows and matures, our greatest desire will be to know His presence at all times.
Our pursuit of God is directly related to our gratitude---heart felt thankfulness for all He has blessed us with. When we have the heart knowledge of the depth of His love for us---how can we resist pursuing Him? And in our pursuit, we acknowledge thanksgiving for Who He is and all He has blessed us with. Thank Him by Loving Him.
Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord.”
