SHHHH--IT'S A SECRET

I recently read all men were basically the same---it was the secrets they kept about themselves that made them different.  SURPRISE--it started the wheels turning upstairs!

I am a really good secret keeper.  As friends get to know you, and learn you can be trusted, they often share their secrets with you.   Your secret is safe with me.

We all know those who are unable to keep a secret.  You no sooner whisper in their ear, than they are repeating it to the grapevine.  Remember the game you played in youth group or at parties where you whisper something in someone's ear and it gets passed in whispers all around the group?  It usually does not resemble the original message by the time it makes the complete circle.  Thus the reason to be very careful whom you share your secrets with.

I have a handful of friends that I have shared some of my secrets with.  They are trustworthy.  BUT there are a few secrets--I have never told anyone.

Why do we have secrets?  In most cases, for me, it is shame.  I do not want your opinion of me to change because of something I did or was done to me.  The world has whispered in my ear and convinced me, if you knew these things about me---you would shun me---turn from me--desert our friendship.

Thinking this over I began to see my conclusion was skewed.  When I began reviewing the secrets I have been told, the truth is, it does not change how I feel about the secret sharer one bit.  Even those secrets where you did something really bad---if I love you---I love you---good and bad.  We all have feet of clay and fall far short of the glory of God.

We are so naive to think we can even keep secrets from God.  If I just don't ever let anyone know I did this--or this was done to me, I will never have to talk it over with God.  I can ignore the truth--never speak it--and it will always remain a secret.  I will take it to the grave with me.

Hope that works well for you!  The truth is--there are NO secrets from God   AND  HE LOVE US---secrets and all!

For nothing is hidden that will not be made manifest, nor is anything secret that will not be known and come to light.
Luke 8:17

  1. I was JUST talking about sharing everything with everyone to a dear friend. We have to be careful. There are dream killers, haters, and the like that just don't care about what God is doing! I love this post! Thank you for the confirmation!

  3. Hi Lulu! I often think that if people really knew me, they'd run! But that's pretty silly. How can I not show who I am? We fall in love with friends we know we can trust, and part of that is we have things that need to be held in confidence. No one is perfect, no one has a perfect past. Friends accept and love in spite, and because of our faults. It makes me feel less alone!
    Blessings,
    Ceil

  4. I hope I'm good at keeping secrets too. Since I'm good at keeping my own council I just use that knack for keeping other things to myself too. I learned to not share my or other peoples secrets when listening to Dr. Laura Schlesinger on AM Radio many years ago. She showed me how gossip (i.e. sharing other's secrets with the world) was underhanded, cruel and to be avoided. Plus deliberate unkindness really displeases God. That's good enough for me. Another excellent lesson that made me think and pray. Thanks Lulu. ~:)

    1. We treat others the way we wish to be treated, Yes? I am praying for God to continue to use me in the lives of others as they confide in me. Praying I always respond with Godly wisdom and love.

Your comments keep my writing and often cause me to think. A written form of a hug or a pat on the back and an occasional slap into reality---I treasure them all!
