OVER THE EDGE

Many of my favorite colloquialism phrases concern "The Edge".

I have been known to hang out on an edge or two---they don't always involve cliffs.  Sometimes I am tottering on the edge of reason.

This scene put "Thelma and Louise" on the map.  Up to this point we had a couple of "done bad" girls on a wild spree of pay back and riotous living.  What do we all remember about the movie? The end- That cool car flying over the edge of the cliff when there seemed to be no other way out.  It was one of those never forgotten scenes in an otherwise mediocre movie.

My children drove me close to the edge on numerous occasions in those growing up years.  And there are a few individuals strolling around the public by ways that can send me careening toward the edge.

It finally occurred to me--I am allowing someone else to be behind the wheel when it is speeding toward the edge.  The simple answer is---never allow anyone else to do the driving and be very selective in whom I allow in the car with me.

If I am not going to do my own driving, then only allow someone with the loyalty and concern of Hoke to chauffeur me.  Hoke never took Miss Daisy anywhere near a cliff -much less over the edge.

Reading through Revelations, I came across the passage where that crafty Satan was thrown over the edge of Heaven.  It occurred to me while reading it this time, once he is thrown out of Heaven for good, he is not allowed to be our accuser anymore.  His time has run out and the final days of his reign on earth are dwindling.  His last hurrah begins with this plunge over the edge.  With all the strange imagery in Revelations, this leaves no room for doubt.  God Wins---Satan has gotten the boot and Jesus remains on the throne.  And--I am not going over the edge---my feet are firmly planted on solid ground---for on Christ the Solid Rock I stand.

And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them[a] in heaven any longer. So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him
Revelations 12:7-9

  1. Often times, the devil tries to push us over the edge with temptations and doubts. He knows our weaknesses and will use them to tempt us.

He tried to tempt Jesus; so he obviously does not see us as much of a challenge.

Prayers always ... "and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil".

    God bless you, Lulu.

  2. Satan is the great tempter, however, we can all be pretty cruel on our own, in my opinion. Good lesson.
Hope your day is blessed. ~:)

    1. Yes, Satan only has to leave us to our own devices and we do his work for him.
      Blessings, Friend!
