Most of us feel a void at one time or another in our life. Someone--something is missing. When coming out of my anesthetic fog after surgery, I had a strange hollow feeling where they had removed several parts. What had once been there for my entire life, was no longer there. There was a hollow space----which I was not accustomed. The feeling of being hollow only lasted a couple of days--until I was up and moving around again allowing a shift of what was still there. I found a great picture showing exactly what happens, but for the sake of the squeamish--I will refrain from showing.
Something must always fill the voids we find in life. When my nest became empty, I threw myself into volunteering. When I was no longer able to run as I once did due to injury problems, I found lower impact activities. When I found myself without a life partner, I filled my hours with family and friends. Why something as simple as giving up artificial sweeteners lead to turning to the "Real Deal". Surely it is a law of nature that when we have a void--we will fill it.
Man is created with a God sized void in his heart. That void will be filled--and we have the choice of where we will turn to fill the void. He gives us total freedom to choose Him or not. Make no mistake, we all have the void--the only difference is in how we decide to fill that perfectly shaped God hollow. We can let the perfect shape of God fill the void or we can try to cram the mis-shape of something from the world . One thing is certain--it will be filled.
He has made everything beautiful in its time.
Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart,
yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.
