STEPPING OUT OF THE BUBBLE

I have been thinking about the latest round of mass murders here in the good old USA.  I recently saw this startling fact posted on line~

Of course I do NOT believe everything I read online and checked out the authenticity of this data HERE.  The bottom line, it is absolutely startling that we have mass shootings here in the land people are willing to chance dying to live in.  I am NOT going to argue the alien dilemma with you.  Study your history--this is NOT a new issue.  There have always been separationists and always been open border proponents.  That is NOT the issue here for these mass murders were not all contingent upon immigration.  The bottom line is hate is running rampant in our society.  Media fueled unmitigated hatred toward anyone who disagrees with our point of view, looks different, acts different, believes different and on and on.  The great freedoms so desperately sought when we formed this country seem to be only reserved for those who believe exactly as we do.  We have NO tolerance for any other beliefs.

What is the answer to this?  Stepping out of our bubble might be a good first step.  We recently talked about how our world will shrink with age, if we are not careful.  It's wonderful to step out beyond your comfort zone, but are you willing to step far enough away to be in unknown territory?  Are you willing to listen to the stories of others?  Do you have an open mind to the struggles, dreams, desires, and aspirations of those who do not mirror you?

Today at lunch a group of friends and I sat and discussed the startling realization of our parent's prejudices.  Somehow we live an entire life in their sphere of influence without realizing their distrust of those who do not look or act like them.  Where does this come from?  Fear---fear of the unknown--the different--the alien land.  When we are unwilling to step out of our bubble and listen to our fellow man, we will never learn who they are.  They have similar hopes and dreams as ours.  They only want what is best for their children and families.  What seemed so different is really very similar.

As I went by one of the schools where I volunteer today, I was reminded how sad it is that all schools must now be locked down.  Back in the good old days, I might have been guilty of playing hooky a time or two by slipping out the door.  NO MORE!  You can't get in or out without someone pushing the buzzer.  I understand and I want our children protected, but how did the world come to this point.  Hatred.

I am praying---praying for our great country to become a statistic promoting peace---praying for those who are disenfranchised---praying for the hurting---praying we can step out of our bubble and extend a hand of help~not violence. Praying we all ask "What Would Jesus Do?"

He WOULD NOT be shooting his neighbor--that is for certain!

8 Finally, all of you, be like-minded,
 be sympathetic,
 love one another,
be compassionate and humble.

  1. "The bottom line is hate is running rampant in our society." WRONG!!!

The bottom line is hate is running rampant in our WORLD. This world will never know peace until it learns to forgive.

    Prayers.

    God bless.

  2. Joining you in prayer, Lulu. Our society is crumbling precisely because God has been removed from the secular arena. Let's remember 2 Chronicles 7:14.
    Blessings!

  3. Amen! Martha! IF MY PEOPLE who are called by my name humble themselves, AND PRAY and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
    Blessings, My Friend!

  4. 100% correct, Victor (and Lulu). I am so exasperated by all this...and when one does step out of ones bubble --they get lambasted and called a racist or other gosh forbidden names...it seems that word racist is loosely used now. We were just discussing this and how everything is deemed racist or this that...so sad...and not just that word...it seems folks are so offended easier now a days. I better get of my soap box now.

    1. We wear out feelings on our sleeves and take everything personally. I blame the media (social and third estate) for the explosion of hatred. We have lost any sense of boundaries!
      Blessings, My Friend!
