WORDS LEADING TO WORDS

I REALLY LOVE it when words lead to other words.  It frequently  happens that way!  Last week I posted on the word Forgotten - Loneliness.  As soon as the sender of the word read the post she sent me this word ~

EXACTLY!  AND they also sent this

(If I had ANY technical sense I could fix this, we all know that is not the case.)

No matter how rich or how poor you are, we all have a limited amount of time.  So far the rich have not been able to figure out a way to buy themselves more time.  We also ALL have a choice about the way we spend our time and our response to the world surrounding us.  NO ONE can take that away from you!

Sadly many a day I make the choice to sit on this couch and eat tater chips.  It was my choice--no one force fed me and they certainly did not tie me to the couch.  I made a conscious decision to spend part of my limited resource of time sitting and stuffing my face.  BUT I sure do love those tater chips.

Life is filled with making choices of those options which we are given.  We are solely responsible for our choices.  No one can really force you to do anything.  The thing about this is we also  reap the benefits or suffer the consequences of the choices we make.  I believe having options and having to make choices might also be called free will.  (OH MY---I CANNOT believe I opened that can of worms.

Just forget I said that---it's an option I am giving you and you have to make the choice to not become stuck but read on instead.

Our days are filled with options and choices.  Here is the thing about it---most of the time we cannot get past the end of our nose when making those choices.  We live in the day and age of

We get stuck in the present and forget there is more than us and what makes us happy.  Conveniently we choose (that's making a choice) to ignore what is down the road.   We are living in the moment.

POOR PLANNING, lack of vision, selfish desires, stuck in the moment, tunnel vision ... we are unable to see the lasting consequences of making poor choices of how we spend our valuable resource of time.

I PROMISE YOU---I am preaching to myself today!  When we are unable or unwilling to understand the eternal effect of our poor choices, we are choosing to pay the consequence at some point in the future.  There are short term and long term consequences for our choices.  My slowly expanding waist line and tightly fitting clothes is a short term consequence of sitting and munching.   The lasting consequence will be a closet filled with clothes I can no longer fit into.

There will come a time for us to reap the benefit or suffer the consequence of all our choices.  The bell will toll and we will be held accountable for our lack of focus on those things eternal.  I am praying we can all keep our eyes on the goal and make those choices which will reap the benefits of time well spent.

AFTER ALL--it is our option as to what choices we will make.

"He will judge everyone according to what they have done.

He will give eternal life to those who keep on doing good,

seeking after the glory and honor and immortality that God offers.

But He will pour out His anger and wrath on those who live for themselves,

who refuse to obey the truth and instead live lives of wickedness."

Romans 2:6-8

  1. You have certainly given all of us much to ruminate over today, Lulu. Yes, choices are made each and every day, good and bad. May God lead us to make the right ones that will honor Him.
    Blessings!

  3. Perhaps one of the unacknowledged consequences of quarantine and limitations of pandemic is disruption of habitual behaviors. Any life change may present us with unfamiliar choices. Good post to raise our awareness that if we have breath we are making countless choices. ❤️🙏🏼

    1. It begins everyday with our first conscious thought. I am wondering now - Are our dreams every the results of conscious decisions of what we think about? You ALWAYS challenge me to think!
      Bless You!

Your comments keep my writing and often cause me to think. A written form of a hug or a pat on the back and an occasional slap into reality---I treasure them all!
