THERE'S A STORM COMING!

THIS WAS WRITTEN LAST THURSDAY--
IT ALL CHANGED ONCE AGAIN AND TODAY, MONDAY,
AS I PROOF THIS FOR THE FINAL TIME
IT IS A POWDERY COVERING OF SNOW
AND 13 F WITH A WINDCHILL OF -1F

Here we are smack dab in the middle of January and the weather is yo-yoing all over the place.  We go from Spring (high of 68) to Polar (high of 22) in a week's time.  It is a well known fact that in Texas and Louisiana if you do not like the weather---hold on---it will change in a few short hours.  MY DIL grew up in Chicago and she recently told me she does not like the cold, BUT the mere two months threat we have of REALLY cold is bearable.  Thankfully she did not bring up the months on end of oppressive heat.

The secret to living well with the knowledge there is a constant threat of change is being prepared.  In my sparse closet I have something for any occasion.  I can brave the ice and snow which might appear (layering is my answer--along with a few other necessities), the heat of a summer's day, and even the frequent rains (I have a slicker suit & boots---HERO HAS to have his walks).  Name the weather combination and I have within a finger tip's reach the appropriate clothing.  Why it makes my walks down right enjoyable in the frigid single digit blustery days to the long dog days (pun intended) of summer--I am prepared.  Top that with my slicker suit and every walk through God's creation is a delight.  (SIDENOTE---I do have sense enough to stay inside if it is lightning.)  No matter what Mother Nature may throw at me--no matter how unexpected--I am always prepared.

HUMM---a great example of life.  Recently I was discussing with a friend how this season of life does not look anything like I thought it would.  My choice is to allow life's twists and turns to throw me into chaos and confusion OR to be prepared by having God's Word hidden deep in my heart.  God's Word can provide the "heart protection" we need as the storms of life come out of seemingly nowhere and hit us square in the face.  We can allow those full body slams to drag us down or we can claim God's promises and face the unexpected.  If we keep God's Word stored in our heart--we will be prepared--rain or shine--hot or cold---we will be prepared.

"Your word is a lamp to my feet

and a light to my path."

Psalm 119:105

PERSONAL NOTE-one of my favorite verses.

  1. Absolutely, Lulu! If we are seasoned (pun intended) with God's Word, we can face any challenges that come our way. Blessings!

Your comments keep my writing and often cause me to think. A written form of a hug or a pat on the back and an occasional slap into reality---I treasure them all!
