FALSE IDOLS

OH--there are no idols in my life---I am a Christian---God is my Father.  While reading one of my daily devotions, I came across the passage concerning the idol for the unknown God.  There is only one God in my life---surely there are no idols in my life.

Why I am not guilty of letting lust of the flesh, lust of the eye, and pride of life become idols in my life.  No I am not guilty of having idols.

Well certainly my family is important--that is what God intended --surely I never put them first.

I do spend a great deal of time taking care of my body --exercise is necessary to stay in the best of shape--God instructs us our body is a temple--surely I would never miss an opportunity to serve Him--because I might miss a class-walk-run-ride.

Concern for future financial security is necessary in these days and times.  Proverbs is full of wisdom concerning our assets.  Surely I would never save instead of helping when God directs.

Maybe I do get my priorities topsy turvey at times---the key--is keeping the pyramid shape----God always at the top.  Praying and striving----and thankful for grace!

" 'Men of Athens! I see that in every way you are religious.  For as I walked around and observed your objects of worship, I even found an alter with this inscription, TO AN UNKNOWN GOD. Now what you worship as something unknown, I am going to proclaim to you. ' "
Acts 17:22-23

  2. They sneak up on us, Linda. We forget anything we place before God is an idol. I do not believe in coincidences---only God-incidences. He put the same thing on our minds!

Your comments keep my writing and often cause me to think. A written form of a hug or a pat on the back and an occasional slap into reality---I treasure them all!
