AND THERE IS ALWAYS HOPE

And I am thankful for---

As I strolled through the hood, a whisper in my ear reminded me of perhaps the thing I am most thankful for-

The candle of hope burns brightly in the midst of the darkest nights.  No matter the circumstances--no matter my dismay--no matter how bleak things look---I cling to the knowledge of hope.

In the midst of family and friends in declining health---in the sure and certain knowledge--there is only one way to leave this earth---I know hope.  Hope for tomorrow--hope for peace--hope for joy--hope for restoration--hope for healing--hope for eternity.  I cling with all my might to the lifeline Jesus threw me ---mercy and grace and love braided together --intertwined with the promise of eternity at the other end.

When life has seemed ---unfair---there is the promise of eternal fairness.  When I have felt utterly alone--abandoned--rejected--I remember - He is right by my side---covering me with His blanket of love and hope.

Even if all is stripped away--and I stand destitute and hungry---He is my hope.  And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow--not even the powers of hell can separate us from  the love of God which is ours through Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39  Words of hope---God given promises of His love--no matter what.  I live by these words--I cling to their promise---I thank God for who He is and what He has done for me.

I give praise and thanksgiving---for the promise of hope.

For you have been my hope, O Sovereign LORD, my confidence since my youth
Psalms 71:5

  1. You said this -->'mercy and grace and love braided together --intertwined with the promise of eternity' ... wow. What a glorious word picture you've painted here today, Lulu. I take this with me as I move ahead into this day.

    Thank you, friend.

  2. I knew a girl called Hope once. But it's too much information, I guess. Despite her name she was always melancholy. Face like a melon body like a collie. She always looked as if she had a permanent bad smell under her nose.

But you're right Lulu. We must always have hope in life. No matter our current situation w emust hope that things will get better. In this life and the next. Because Lulu, without hope we are saying we no longer trust in our Lord. I know you're a courageous and strong person, Lulu, and despite what life throws at you, your character and faith and hope will shine through for others to emulate.

    God bless.

  3. How beautiful are your words today!!! As I sat and watched my son takes his vows, I was filled with such a surge of hope, for their future, for our future, for God's everlasting blessings. Hope is a wonderful thought, action, feeling...our world is utterly lost without it. And our hope is in Jesus Christ Our Lord, who as you said, loves us beyond comprehension. Mercy and grace and love braided together....just WOW!!! Another on of my favorites. love you as always.

Your comments keep my writing and often cause me to think. A written form of a hug or a pat on the back and an occasional slap into reality---I treasure them all!
