JESUS

Nothing speaks louder of our gratitude and thanksgiving than boldly speaking the name of

JESUS

Today's political correctness often stymies our freedom to speak of our faith--our relationship with a Holy God.  The liberty of publicly speaking of the Great God we believe in has slowly but surely been stripped away.  Those who are not Believers now seem to be more entitled to their right of not hearing than we have the right to speak of our belief.

The organization I volunteer in the school system through is a Christian organization--Kid's Hope.  This is the third year of mentoring the same sweet child, but I am not allowed to speak overtly to her of Jesus when I spend time with her.  Unless she brings up direct questions, I am not free to speak of Jesus with her.   My prayer is that she will know in her heart why I am there---but the government has stepped in and stopped any mention of my faith.  You may say---to heck with the government--speak up---but the truth is--the entire program could be stopped by one complaint.  So we go--we love--we serve--and we pray they will ask the question so we may give the reason.

I speak boldly of the things which are important to me and that I am proud of.  My conversation is filled with stories of my children and grands with no hesitation to speak of them.  What is important to us---what do we talk about?

Have you ever stood in conversation with someone who was overtly scanning the room for someone of greater importance, greater beauty, more social status?  You instantly know--you are a stop off on their way  up the ladder.  My true loved ones--care what I am saying--they listen--and they are quick to defend me and speak well of me.  They are not interested in impressing--but instead they are interested in me.  They openly proclaim our relationship.

If you listened to my conversation with neighbors, friends, acquaintances, would there be any question as to my faith?  Am I careful to not offend, cautious about over-stepping, silent in the face of dissension when the subject comes up?  Is my conversation peppered with the seasoning of my faith or watered down with the blandness of the world?

Boldly speaking the name of Jesus---loudly proclaiming the grace and mercy He has lavished upon me speaks volumes of true thanksgiving. "The name of Jesus is fragrant."   A Year of Living Prayerfully  How wonderful it would be to exude the fragrance of Jesus.   How simple-how powerful--how profound---"Jesus"---truly says it all.

But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven.
Matthew 10:33

  1. Sadly, things are just as bad over here in the UK. In schools Christianity per se is toned down. Religious Instructions covers all faiths and all beliefs - it is just a factual subject just like maths or geography. "The Christians belive that Jesus is the Son of God ..." etc ... Just facts on what we belive rather than what is true.

At work talk of religion is banded in most placed. There was a case of a nurse who asked a patient "Is it OK if I pray with you?" The patient complained and the nurse nearly lost her job. In another case a lady lost her job because she wore a Crucifix in a chain round her neck.

On TV/radio Christianity is often mocked and belief in a God is frowned upon as an oddity in this modern sophisticated world. Quite often TV/radio presenters set the scene by saying "I don't of course believe in God but ..." Thus influencing many susceptible minds watching/listening.

    God bless.

    1. Perhaps your passion for the subject lead to the errors, Victor! When I am fired up I just want to get my message across & don't worry about the errors! As for the sophisticated world, I pity their lack of hope & absence of Jesus in their lives. We will continue to pray for the truth to become boldly visible!
      Blessings!

  3. I don't think it will stop (sadly) until there is no mention of Jesus. Freedom of religion has come to mean persecution to some of us.

  4. Our Government is evil, run by men and women who are bullies. They are facing a terrible judgement one day. I feel pity for them.
I've suffered the same persecution for my belief. It started with my adopted father who hated God and cut me off from my inheritance. Had it at work (got fired for carrying a Bible), and from people who "wanted to be friends, but, you know, you have this 'Jesus' thing going on ...", and so forth. All we can do is keep on, keeping on. By the way, suggestion: wear a T-shirt that has printed BOLDLY on the front, "Ask Me About Jesus". Maybe that'll get the conversation going ... ? (Ain't I a stinker?!) ~:)

Your comments keep my writing and often cause me to think. A written form of a hug or a pat on the back and an occasional slap into reality---I treasure them all!
