Without one single doubt, laughter is one of God's greatest gifts and I am thankful for each and every giggle, snicker, snort, and wild outburst of laughter in my life. Not only for those in the past, but those still to come as well. I am thankful for those wonderful friends and family in my life who laugh with me. I anticipate each time together with the guarantee of laughter being in the midst of our communion. I am thankful for the release of joy and happiness as I turn my head to the sky and let a belly chuckle fly. The peals of laughter float toward the heavens in praise of The Giver of All Good Things!
I am especially thankful for the ability to laugh at myself. It pays high dividends to not take yourself too seriously! What a delight to put others at ease about your short comings in any department, by being the first to laugh over something you have no control and even your lack of control. Rather than crying over spilled milk, I prefer to shed tears from laughing so hard over being the klutz who spilled the milk. I can look in the mirror and laugh or cry---I prefer to laugh with those famous words, "Mother Nature Wins!"
Last and certainly not least is the sweet release laughter can give in the midst of the most intense of times. One of my very favorite scenes from a movie, this perfectly depicts the joy of release only laughter can give us. When at my very lowest point, I suddenly see a moment of levity that erupts into a spontaneous burst of laughter, I make a turn from the abyss of hopelessness into the light of hope. God's gift of release allows my heart to remember all is not lost---hope is always present---and laughter is surely the best medicine.

The doctor asks, "How long has she had this condition?"
"Two years," says the man.
"Then why did it take you so long to come and see me?" asked the shrink.
The man shrugs his shoulders and replies, "We needed the eggs."
A man went to visit a friend and was amazed to find him playing chess with his dog. He watched the game in astonishment for a while. "I can hardly believe my eyes!" he exclaimed. "That's the smartest dog I've ever seen."
"Nah, he's not so smart," the friend replied. "I've beaten him three games out of five."
A very rich woman in hospital in intensive care dies for a few seconds. She sees herself leave her body in a near death experience and meets God in Heaven. “Is that it?” she asks Him, “Am I dead?”
“No,” says God, “you will live for many more years yet!”
She recovers in hospital and is well again. She is so cheerful that she decides to improve herself. She gets plastic surgery done on her face, gets her hair re-styled and dyed a different colour, gets a new set of stylish clothes and looks terrific once again.
A few days later she is hit by a bus and killed instantly.
When she meets God she complains, “I thought you said I’ll live for many years yet!”
He replies, “Sorry, I didn’t recognize you after the make-over!”
Patient: Doctor help me. I keep thinking I'm a dog.
Psychiatrist: And when did this start exactly?
Patient: Ever since I was a puppy.
Psychiatrist: I see. Please get on the couch.
Patient: I'm not allowed on the couch!
A Mother was reading a Bible story to her young daughter. She read "The man named Lot was warned to take his wife and flee out of the city, but his wife looked back and was turned into a pillar of salt".
Her daughter asked, "What happened to the flea?"
