THE GREAT CALLING

As a Believer, I continue to search for my "Great Calling".  I often feel as if I am in Limbo Land--waiting for God to reveal His purpose for the remainder of my days.  There are times, I feel I have a "Crisis of Mission".  What makes me think God has some grandiose use planned for me?  This crisis has partly come because of my move and my great desire to serve Him.   I never felt that way in R---because I was extremely busy all the time.  Finding God's purposes for me in FW has not been as easy.

One of the devotionals I read and listen to daily has lately centered upon Paul's imprisonment.  Paul certainly had "A Great Call" and lived out his commission with eternal consequences.  What was Paul thinking those years he was out of commission?  Did he struggle with his mission in life being short-circuited?  We all know he wrote letters--did he have any idea of the important role those letters would play in The Faith?  Did Paul think his down time was wasted--when in fact God used him so effectively?

The truth is God's great plan for each of us is not our dream of how our life should look.  His plan may include pain, loss, illness, financial crisis's, and all the other struggles in this fallen world.  His plan may include down time--periods we consider down--because we are not busy--but times when He is still using us.  Our lives may not resemble the dreams we had of how it should all look--but instead we may be imprisoned behind the bars of reality.  Reality which may be ugly--painful--difficult to face each and everyday.  AND YET---ALL things can work for good---ALL according to HIS PERFECT PLAN!

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:28

  1. Maybe God is telling you to do NOTHING. Just wait. Live life as best you can and be an example to others. But do no more. Await His "great calling" in His time and in His way.

One thing's for sure, I have found. When God talks He makes sure we understand and know it is Him.

    God bless.

Your comments keep my writing and often cause me to think. A written form of a hug or a pat on the back and an occasional slap into reality---I treasure them all!
